Greg’s senior year is winding down, and he’s got his eyes set on prom and the stunningly smart Cinny. While he dreams of becoming a successful poet and charming her with his words, he can’t seem to trip out of his own daydreams long enough to think about college. His mom nudges him to apply, but he’s lost. Mr. Shapic, one of his teachers, tries to spark some motivation, and Greg realizes asking Cinny for help with applications might bring them closer. But he craves more than just friendship—he wants that romantic prom date. To gain her attention, he spins a few tall tales. For a moment, it seems to work, but soon everything unravels, forcing Greg to set aside his fantasies and face reality.
